What is an entrepreneur?

Do you want to own/open a business or do you want to be an entrepreneur?

There is a subtle yet important distinction.  On the outside, the terms seem interchangeable but in practice the two are quite different.

An entrepreneur refers to an individual who starts new or leads existing businesses or ventures with the goal of generating profit or value through innovation and risk-taking.

Entrepreneurship encompasses the process of creating, developing, and managing a business or organization and encompasses identifying a market need, developing a product or service to meet that need, and building a sustainable business around it. Entrepreneurs are individuals who take on the challenge of starting and managing these new ventures, often with the goal of disrupting existing markets or creating new ones.

Not all entrepreneurs are business owners and not all business owners are entrepreneurs – for our purposes, entrepreneurship is part of a philosophy or mind-set rather than a job description or title.

How to start (and run) a business

 Answer 1a

To start a business in Texas, you’ll need to follow several key steps, including selecting a business structure, choosing a registered agent, and completing the Certificate of Formation with the Texas Secretary of State. You’ll also need to obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) and any necessary licenses and permits, and ultimately file a Texas Franchise Tax Report.

Answer 1b

To start a business in Texas, schedule a Lean Planning meeting with PCU, incorporated.

You still need to accomplish all the aforementioned tasks (and more) but you will: 1 – have a better understanding the process and 2 – potentially avoid making expensive mistakes.
